Keeping your business income and expenses separate from your personal banking is a good practice for every sole proprietor. A dedicated business account makes bookkeeping easier, creates a clear record of business transactions and helps you prepare for tax season.
Look for a low-fee or no-fee business banking account designed specifically for sole proprietors. Before opening an account, review the transaction limits, e-transfer fees, deposit options and account requirements to ensure it fits how you operate your business.
Canva is an amazing all-in-one design tool that makes it easy to create everything from social media graphics to brochures, presentations, and more—no design experience needed. Even better, they offer free premium subscriptions for eligible non-profit organizations, making it a powerful and budget-friendly resource for your mission.
Funding Opportunties
Nonprofit and Community Leadership: supporting initiatives that strengthen the knowledge and skills of nonprofit board members to effectively govern; nonprofit program delivery staff have knowledge & skills that benefit the participants of the nonprofit’s program and services; and volunteers to become community leaders and support nonprofit program delivery, enhancing the ability of nonprofits to achieve their mission and have a positive impact on community.
The maximum amount that can be applied for is $35,000 for local/regional programs and $50,000 for programs that are provincial in scope.

Micro-Grant Program
The Micro-Grant Program provides support to professional artists and arts organizations to achieve outcomes that create access for first-time and underserved applicants, contribute to professional practice and development and advance the professional arts and artistic practices in Saskatchewan.
Organizational Development program provides support to professional arts organizations to increase their organizational and artistic capacity by:

Undertaking specialized artistic or administrative training and education

Strategic planning

Undertaking operational transitions

Creating access for underserved applicants
This program supports activities with clear learning goals, strategic planning outcomes, or significant transitions related to operational capacity such as:

In-person or online courses, workshops, or conferences for personnel

Cultural training

Mentorships
-
Governance-related training for board members
-
Strategic planning
-
Training and costs associated with moving to a new platform or system (such as accounting software or ticket system)

Consulting fees related to changes in organizational structure
Maximum funding $5,000
The Business Improvement Grant supports projects that focus on professional development, increasing workforce capacity, and technology infrastructure updates which result in growth, market expansion and improved profitability.

Workshops, conferences, seminars or training that improve business skills of yourself and/or your staff.

Business mentorships, work teams or internships that support industry capacity and job growth in Saskatchewan.
Up to $750 in funding is available for rural entrepreneurs with health conditions or disabilities to access professional services to:

Receive support from a business mentor
Once approved, funding is paid directly to the service provider/contractor only. All service providers/contractors must be registered businesses and must provide their business number. Funding is capped at $750 per entrepreneur.
Rural business owners with health conditions or disabilities can apply. Applications will be reviewed and approved as funding allows.
